Water Conservation and usage- Focus of Easter Camp

Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 05, 2013 (SKNIS): Fifty (50) children from across St. Kitts will participate in fun-filled activities, highlighting the nature of water – its usages and conservation, at a one week Easter Camp at the Conaree Community Centre.

The theme is, ‘The Nature of Water-it usages and conservation’. The theme of the April 8 -12 camp will be brought out in the activities, including art and craft, pottery, poetry, nature walks and scenic railway tour and others. Incentives will be given for the three most outstanding poems and art and craft, which surround the theme.

Azilla Clarke, Director of Community Affairs, said the main focus of the camp will be ‘Water’, taking into consideration the Pan American Health Organization International Day of Observance on March 22 “WORLD WATER DAY”. St. Kitts and Nevis took part in the World Water Day celebration and Water Services Department launched their website: www.water.gov.kn.

The camp is organized by The Department of Social Services and Community Development in collaboration with Youth Empowerment and Water Services Department.

Financing for this camp will be secured principally from the Department of Social Services and Community Development, in conjunction with donations from partnering agencies.
