Youth Invited to Design for Youth Trekkers ROC (TAIWAN)

(EMU) – St. Kitts, June 12, 2013: Youths from the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis have been invited to enter a competition for the opportunity to design a creative travel itinerary for the 6th Youth Trekkers Wanted Campaign.

A release from the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) revealed that the campaign assists youth from around the world to make their travel dreams come true.

Specifically, the Youth Trekkers Wanted Campaign gives youth the opportunity to trek Taiwan on an excursion of at least ten days. Sponsored by the Roc’s Ministry of Education’s Youth Development Administration and its predecessor the National Youth Commission, It claims to have been pioneering innovative youth travel in Taiwan for over half a decade.

Youths between the ages of 18 to 30 years are eligible to enter the competition to design the Trek for the upcoming edition of Youth Trekkers and to submit it by July 14th.

Examples of successful past entries included that of Shelmith WangechiGitahi of Africa for whom Taiwan was “an island of mystery hidden from the world”. It was “love at first bite” for Shelmith who pursued a passion for Taiwan’s diverse culinary temptations on her Trek of Taiwan.

Erica Schlaikjer (USA) focused on Taiwan’s graffiti and street art scene. “She saw this art form gradually earning broad-based acceptance and believed street art a powerful cohesive force capable of not only enlivening stagnant urban spaces but also creating an active dialogue between the city and its residents”.

Now, youth of the Federation have the same opportunity to come up with their own ideas as far as submitting a theme that will take them around Taiwan to pursue an area of interest to them that they believe will also interest other youths. Winners receive up to $3000 towards their Taiwan Trek.
