Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 21, 2020 (ZIZ News): On Monday government officials and other public figures joined family members, friends and well-wishers to pay their final respects to Dion Geron Stevens, better known as “King Ayatollah”.
His funeral service was held at the Garden’s Playfield and was anything but a sombre affair as it included several musical tributes from fellow calypsonians including Former Calypso Monarch King Konris.
Among those in attendance was Minister of Culture the Hon. Jonel Powell, Prime Minister Dr. the Hon Timothy Harris, Former Ambassador Sam Condor, and Former Minister Dwyer Astaphan.
Ayatollah was laid to rest holding a golden microphone. Musical Accompaniment was provided by the Grand Masters Band.
