Executive Director of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Calvin Cable said his organization does not support this type of behaviour in any form.
“The Chamber of Industry and Commerce has always supported good order, peace, and stability within the country and we hope that all sides will definitely stick to that agenda to ensure that the continuing progress of the country is maintained,” he said.
Vice-Chairman of the St. Kitts Christian Council, Archdeacon Valentine Hodge agreed, saying the Church’s position is to preserve life and decry all forms of violence.
He urged everyone be calm and vote for whomever they support without fear.
“And as we’re approaching election mode, we want to have an atmosphere of calm and peace so that persons can be very level-headed as they go to vote and vote for someone of their choice,” he said.
Over the past week, several political figures have criticized the comments and Winn FM for allowing the caller to launch a scathing attack on Nigerian citizens.
Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas commented, last Tuesday, that while Kittitians and Nevisians are ‘energetic’ about their politics, violence is a place the people here simply do not go to.
