(ZIZ News) – As Culturama 41 activities continue, the semi-finals of the Culturama Soca Monarch competition took place on Friday evening.
Hours after the show, Executive Director of the Culturama Secretariat, Antonio “Abonaty” Liburd took to the airwaves to announce the finalists for the upcoming competition in both the groovy and power segments.
He said, “The judges thought that Speedy, Delly Ranks, Itebulous, Rucas, X-man, Woodis, Mr. Energy and Jazzique were the best of the 14 performers in the groovy category.”
Although each segment was expected to have eight persons, Liburd said after deliberations, it was found that two performers were tied for 8th place in the power segment thereby allowing 9 finalists for that segment.
“The judges gave the nod to Delly Ranks, X-Man, Heuj, Meeko, Young J, Daddy Tuss Tee, Fantastic Tunda, Wingie and Itebulous. There was a tie for 8th place so we have selected 9 persons to advance to the final round.”
The Soca Monarch Final is set to take place on Friday, July 31st.
Culturama 41 is being held under the theme, “Culture Fete and Fun: Culturama 41.”
