BASSETERRE: The Consumer Affairs Department is launching two digital platforms on February 18 that will transform how citizens access consumer protection services in St. Kitts and Nevis.
The Consumer Affairs Website and SKN Smart Shopper Mobile App will provide residents with 24/7 access to consumer rights information, price tracking data, advisories, and digital complaint submission with real-time tracking.
“This transformation is more than a technological upgrade; it is a shift in how government connects with citizens,” the department stated in announcing the initiative, which is supported by the Digital Transformation Unit.
The platforms eliminate the need for in-person visits or paper forms, allowing citizens to access consumer protection services anytime, anywhere from mobile devices or computers. Features include price tracking tools, digital complaint filing, and real-time status updates on submitted issues.
According to the department, the digital shift reflects growing national commitment to transparency, accountability, and accessibility in public service. Officials say consumers will benefit from faster complaint processing, stronger enforcement mechanisms, and confidence that their issues are being tracked and addressed.
The initiative forms part of the Federation’s broader digital transformation efforts aimed at making government services simple, secure, and user-friendly to meet modern expectations.
The Consumer Affairs Department is inviting all citizens to prepare for the launch and engage with what officials describe as a more responsive, citizen-focused consumer protection system.
