Four-Man SKELEC team off to Jamaica

BASSETERRE – A team from the St. Kitts Electricity Company SKELEC) is in Jamaica to assist in the restoration of electricity following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa.

“On Tuesday, November 11, four members of the SKELEC team left St. Kitts for Jamaica, answering the call for assistance after Hurricane Melissa severely impacted the island’s electricity network.

Representing SKELEC are Dion Walters, Gavin Mitchum, Elvis Glasgow, and Bryan Delpleche. They will work alongside other Caribbean utilities through the CARILEC Disaster Assistance Programme (CDAP), a vital initiative that ensures regional cooperation during times of crisis,” a SKELEC statement said Wednesday.

SKELEC noted that as Caribbean nations, “we share common vulnerabilities to hurricanes and other natural disasters. By standing together, we strengthen our ability to recover quickly and support each other when it matters most.”

SKELEC said it is “proud of our team’s commitment and wish them success as they help restore power and hope to Jamaica. Together, we rise.”
