BASSETERRE: George Moody Stuart Primary School delivered a commanding performance at the Kim Collins Stadium on Friday to claim top honours at the St. Kitts Department of Sports’ Body Shop Sponsored Private Primary Schools Championships.
When the final medals were tallied, George Moody Stuart stood atop the standings with an impressive haul of 16 gold, 11 silver, and 16 bronze medals, a dominant display that left little doubt about who the day’s best school was. Their gold medal tally alone proved to be the decisive factor in separating them from a strong challenge by Immaculate Conception Catholic School, who finished second with 12 gold, 16 silver, and 13 bronze medals.
Maurice Hillier Memorial School, who entered the competition as the reigning champions, had to settle for third place after collecting 10 gold, 9 silver, and 9 bronze medals. Despite fielding competitive athletes throughout the day, the school was unable to replicate the form that earned them the title in prior years.
SKI Academy School finished fourth with 4 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze medals, while Ross Preparatory School rounded out the five-school competition with 1 gold and 2 silver medals to their name.
The event, held at the world-class Kim Collins Stadium, provided young athletes with a prestigious stage to showcase their talent. The Body Shop’s continued sponsorship of the championship underscores the private sector’s commitment to nurturing youth athletics on the island.
