ICCS Students Reign Supreme at Consumer Affairs Quiz

BASSETERRE: Two students from the Immaculate Conception Catholic School (ICCS) have clinched top honours at the 2026 Charleton Edwards Memorial Primary School Quiz Competition, held Wednesday night at the CUNA Conference Centre.

Taylor Allen and Charlotte O’Connor bested competitors from across St. Kitts to claim first place in the ninth edition of the annual competition — a flagship event of the Consumer Affairs Department’s World Consumer Rights Day (WCRD) week of activities.

Dakarai Duncan and Giana Collins of the Seventh Day Adventist Primary School finished in second place, while Tizonielle Walters and Aramis Rodriguez of the Dr. William Connor Primary School took third. Khoranhlai Wyatt and Kia’Hannah Edwards of Newton Ground Primary School rounded out the top four.

The competition, now a nearly decade-long tradition, challenges primary school students on consumer rights knowledge and is considered a cornerstone of WCRD programming in the federation.

This year’s celebrations are themed “Safe Products, Confident Consumers” — the same theme adopted by consumer advocacy organisations globally for WCRD 2026, observed on March 15.

The week of activities was formally launched by the Minister of Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, who used his address to spotlight the Department’s achievements and renew its commitment to consumer education and protection.

Kicking off the week on Sunday, March 15 — World Consumer Rights Day itself — Dr. Douglas joined the Consumer Affairs Department at the Antioch Baptist Church, where six women were honoured for their dedicated service in ministry.

The Consumer Affairs Department says the week’s events are designed to reinforce the rights of everyday shoppers and raise awareness about product safety standards across St. Kitts and Nevis.
