Improvements still need to be made by businesses and bus operators

Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 28, 2020 (ZIZ News): Members of the COVID-19 Compliance Task Force continued their evaluation of businesses and passenger buses on Monday to track the progress made to comply with the Regulations contained in the Emergency Powers (COVID-19) (No. 5) as they continue to operate on partial lockdown days.

Chair of the COVID-19 Task Force, Abdias Samuel said that 4 passenger buses and 56 businesses were evaluated and the results have shown an improvement in personal hygiene.

“The significant areas of improvement that we are seeing is in the personal hygiene, practicing good hand hygiene was a total of 94 percent, availability of hand sanitizers 60 percent alcohol based there about 100% , soap and water readily available 90 percent.”

He however noted that there are still some areas that needs improvement.

“The weakest areas that we found were rum and bar shops are still attempting to do business, liquor sold by retail, re transportation no more than two persons per row that was poor, passengers not wearing their masks that too was very poor at 6 percent, windows fully open or partially open again that was very poor on the buses 6 percent, door knobs and hand rest sanitized after every trip that again was very poor at 6 percent.”

Samuel noted that these statistics drive decision making so it important to comply with the agreed protocols.
