Minister of Public Infrastructure, Hon. Ian Liburd is encouraging persons have been experiencing financial difficulty to take advantage of the Deferred Payment offer at the St. Kitts Electricity Company.
He said the payment plan was introduced to accommodate persons who were unable to make monthly payments for electricity in their homes which led to many persons living without power.
Minister Liburd said his ministry felt it was important to implement this feature because “having electricity is a public good”.
He also revealed that a “Pay As You Go” feature has been placed before Cabinet for approval and explained that the new system will help those persons who are always on the go as well as those who prefer to use a top up service.
Minister Liburd was at the time addressing questions asked by concerned residents at Tuesday’s Community Consultation in Sandy Point.
