Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 24, 2019 (ZIZ News): At the recently held prisoner’s appreciation event hosted by The Department of Culture, The Ministry of Culture and The National Carnival Committee, Minister of culture, Honourable Shawn Richards took the time to express appreciation for the hard work the inmates have done at various carnival sites.
The inmates were presented with cheques and in his speech the minister says this compensation shows that the quality of the work they have done is recognized and appreciated.
The minister also advised that the inmates use their skills to positively impact their community when they are released.
The residents of Her Majesty’s prison provided services such as plumbing, carpentry, landscaping and other manual labour to assist the carnival committee.
