National Yachting Policy Launched

(ZIZ News) — Tourism and International Transport Minister, Hon. Richard Skerritt; Raquel Browne Chief Executive Officer [CEO] Of The St. Kitts Tourism Authority; and CEOs of the St. Christopher Air And Sea Ports Authority [SCASPA] and the Nevis Air And Sea Ports Authority [NASPA] Jonathan Bass and Oral Brandy were among the top officials who witnessed Thursday’s launch of the National Yachting Policy of St. Kitts and Nevis.

During his remarks, Minister Skerritt said although the process has been long, it has been worth the wait.

“The bottom line is that there are some very good reasons why four years have elapsed and one of them is that the industry itself has been changing. The industry itself has become more potentially critical to our diversification of the economy and that there are so many exciting linkages and that where it started with me as looking to see how we can make yachts people feel more welcomed has grown to how could we help to develop an industry around yachting and how could we be globally competitive,” he said.

McClean Hobson, Director of Maritime Affairs, said the local yachting sector has tremendous potential.
