NEMA talks disaster preparedness

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 27, 2019 (ZIZ News): In Tuesday’s episode of frank and candid on ZIZ radio, officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and a representative of the St. Kitts Meteorological Services tackled the topic of disaster preparedness.

National disaster coordinator, Abdias Samuel said that with the approach of tropical storm Dorian the national infrastructure is functional and in a state of readiness.

He urged the general public to be prepared ahead any natural disaster with a checklist and a family plan.

He also noted that NEMA in collaboration with her majesty’s prison has initiated a tree cutting exercise for persons who live in vulnerable areas.
