Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 12, 2020 (ZIZ News): A new senator has been appointed for her majesty’s loyal opposition.
On Wednesday Dr. Joyelle Clarke was sworn in at a brief ceremony at Government House.
Governor General His Excellency Sir. S.W. Tapley Seaton GCMG CVO QC JP LLD presented Dr. Clarke with her instrument of appointment.
Following the ceremony Dr. Clarke said she is both excited and humbled.
“I’m extremely excited especially as today is World Youth Day. And it’s very humbling to be chosen to represent young people, to speak on behalf of young people, to be part of a process which empowers young people to lead in the future,” she said.
Dr. Clarke will be sworn in at the next sitting of National Assembly on Thursday.
Dr. Joyelle Clarke is also the daughter of ZIZ’s very own radio personality Theo Clarke.
