Oasis Summer Camp enters second week, still open for registration

Basseterre, St. Kitts — The Oasis Summer Camp is entering its second week on Monday July 20th at the St. Peters Community Center. Now in its 4th installment, the Oasis Summer Camp has been a huge success, teaching children arts, languages and participating in field trips to places of interest for learning on the island. The camp is organized by the Oasis Language, Arts and Educational Foundation. This year the theme is: “Working Together” and the age group is from five years old to ten.

The first week, the camp featured arts and crafts, math and reading and featured a field trip on the Scenic Railway together with the students of the Marwins Pre-School. This week, there will be games and a pool party as the camp rolls to a finish on Friday July 24th. Previous editions of the camp included several activities and presentations by Senior Magistrate Josephine Mallalieu, who spoke to the children on how to keep out of trouble and the consequences of crime; Officer Lauston Percival from Operation Future; and dentist Dr. Trevor Christmas who spoke to the children about the proper care of their teeth. The children also did an island tour and picnic to Brimstone Hill last year. The camp is still open for registration. Registration is $75 for the week, which includes a light snack. Camp each day opens from 9am to 3:00pm. For more information or to register, call 760-2751 or 669-6789.
