Old Road, Cayon Advance to Final

ST. PETERS: The 2025 Elvis Star Browne Women’s League Final is set after MSCR Old Road United Lady Jets and Mapau Cayon Rockets secured contrasting semi-final victories on Wednesday, October 29, at the National Bank Group Technical Center in St. Peters.

Old Road continued their dominant unbeaten season with a commanding 6-1 victory over playoff debutants Security Forces FC. League MVP and Golden Boot winner Tarvia Phillip opened the scoring with goals in the 4th and 10th minutes, setting the tone for the rout.

Kiwana McCall added a hat-trick in the 29th, 37th, and 56th minutes, while Zunaya Marshall scored in the 47th minute. Security Forces’ lone consolation came from Challenger in the 63rd minute.

Old Road manager Azaria Vanterpool expressed supreme confidence heading into the final. “I think the team has had an incredible season. We finished in first place, undefeated. We won golden boot, league MVP,” she said. “I’m very confident in the team going all the way. I think there’s no question when it comes to their talent. It’s just now for us to execute and win the championship.”

Vanterpool credited the team’s success to talent and improved team chemistry, noting that team-building activities helped boost morale throughout the season.

In the second semi-final, Cayon edged defending champions Honda Newtown United 1-0 through a 67th-minute strike from Myesha Rawlins, the league’s third-leading scorer with 14 goals.

Coach of the Year Tyrone O’Loughlin praised his team’s commitment. “They really want this,” he said, highlighting improved practice attendance as key to their best-ever league run.

The championship final kicks off Saturday, November 1, at 7 PM at the NBG Technical Center in St. Peters.
