BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, FEBRUARY 27TH2012 (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas has been hailed as a “very far-sighted, visionary and persistent leader committed to bringing all the new technology to the young generation for their own personal development.”
This personal view was expressed by Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), His Excellency Miguel Tsao as he symbolically presented 2,000 laptops to Prime Minister Douglas for distribution to students of all high schools in St. Kitts and Nevis.
In his brief remarks, the Taiwan diplomat issued a strong call for the recipients of the laptops to show their “appreciation to the Government for these hard-earned instruments, and also for engaging in many discussions to reach this important point in our goals.”
“In addition to showing your appreciation, I implore the students to wisely and carefully use these tools, these laptop computers as sharpened weapons of learning and skills development, it will put the positive spin in your study and learning like the two-edged sword,” said Ambassador Tsao, before presenting a laptop to Prime Minister Douglas.
Ambassador Tsao noted that Taiwan is a vital member of the global community with enviable track record of success in economic growth and educational development.
“We are convinced that we attribute this to our investment in education systems, in our students, in our schools and in information technology,” said the Taiwan diplomat, who expressed the view that the future path of success and progress of St. Kitts and Nevis also lies in investment and development of the education.
