Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 19, 2019 (ZIZ News): We are just one week away from the staging of the Annual St. Kitts Music festival and preparations of the grounds and work has already begun at the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium.

ZIZ spoke with Chairman of the St. Kitts Music Festival Committee, Damion Hobson who said preparations began on Monday and now well ahead of schedule.

He said, “To date we have the Xpress events up, we have the Ministers’ box up, we have Carambola White sands up, we have all the bars already erected, so we are definitely ahead of pace. We are hoping by that we could see everything coming together by the end of the week”.

Hobson said although the stage has not yet been set up, the venue will be more than ready to host the major event.

He also said that this year’s layout is even better than that of previous years.

“The stage is facing the Kim Collins stadium so it’s going to be in the eastern side of the field facing back West. It’s a much bigger venue, a much better layout and you’ll enter through the basketball court and come up the steps. We have seven bars in the area and a stage behind for nightly performances before, during and after the show”, the Chairman explained.

Meanwhile, Minister of Tourism, Hon. Lindsay Grant said that his team is expecting up to eleven thousand persons on just one night alone and so the focus has been placed on perfecting the layout and protecting the track as well.

The Tourism Minister said tickets have been selling out at a rapid pace and added that he expects a record number of patrons at this year’s festival.

The 23rd annual St. Kitts Music Festival is scheduled to take place from June 26th to 30th.
