Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 29, 2019 (ZIZ News): The Citizenship by Investment Programme, the upcoming Hurricane season, and the Prime Minister’s engagements in Washington dc were some of the topics covered when Prime Minister Dr. The Hon. Timothy Harris addressed members of the media at his monthly press conference on Wednesday.
The conference was held at the Parliamentary Lounge at Government Headquarters and among those at the head Table were, Hon Vance Amory, Hon. Ian Liburd, Hon. Shawn Richards, hon. Eugene Hamilton, and Hon. Vincent Byron.
Regarding the CBI programme the Prime Minister noted that it continues to be an international leader in the field However he expressed disappointment that two members of The European parliament have requested scrutiny of our CBI Programme without any evidence.
He said instances they referred to existed under the previous administration and the programme has since Undergone an extensive overhaul.
Regarding the upcoming hurricane season the Prime Minister Spoke of the government’s assistance programmes geared towards specific vulnerable segments of society.
He also noted that there will be A National Service of Prayer for the upcoming hurricane season on Thursday at 7:30 at the Evangelist Centre at Needsmust.
The Prime Minister also described his recent trip to Washington dc and nearby areas as very productive; particularly his participation in the ECCB/World Bank Workshop on the Digital Economy.
He noted that the goal was to promote digital transformation and a World Bank team will be here in the summer to discuss pushing these efforts forward.
He also noted that the town hall meeting with people in the Diaspora was also productive as attendees addressed topics Such as constitutional reform, the cannabis industry, and National
Health Insurance.
