Restaurant Week Cook Off Challenge

Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 19, 2020 (ZIZ News): Locals chefs and cooks are being encouraged to enter the Tourism Ministry’s Restaurant Week cook off challenge as the deadline has been extended.

Events Specialist in the Ministry of Tourism Tishauna Syder-Jenkins told ZIZ News that normally as part of Restaurant Week a cook off challenge would be held featuring a local ingredient but this year due to Covid-19 they’ve had to make the competition virtual.

In previous years the local ingredients for St. Kitts-Nevis Restaurant Week were breadfruit, pumpkin, yam, plantain, and coconut. Miss Syder-Jenkins said entrants can use any number of the ingredients in their submission.

She said in the first phas of the competition entrants must post a video of the dish being prepared on social media and their creativity will be key.

The competitors that advance to the finals will then be judged on their creativity and taste. The deadline for submissions has been extended until the 24th of July.

Details of the finals will be announced later.

Restaurant Week 2020 runs from July 16-26.
