Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 15th, 2021 (ZIZ News): Minister of Agriculture the Hon. Alexis Jeffers and other agriculture officials say they are pleased with the work being down to revive the Fahies Outreach Centre at Fahie’s Estate.
On Friday a delegation led by the Minister made a field visit to the centre to see first-hand the progress of the revival.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture Ron Dublin Collins spoke of the significance of the project and how it fits into the overall mandate of the ministry.b
Manager of Fahie’s Outreach Centre Dion Weekes, gave a breakdown of their plans to diversify the production of tubers and what specific crops they’ll be focusing on.
Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. Alexis Jeffers said the Ministry is committed to boosting all sectors of agriculture including crops, livestock and fisheries and the field visit of Friday was one step focusing on bringing the outreach centre back to its glory days in the past.
Minister Jeffers said the government will also be assisting the farmers with seedlings to” improve in their agricultural exploits”.
