Ross University hosts 2019 Purple Glam Gala and Awards Ceremony

A sea of purple and white surrounded the hundreds of women and men at the annual (RUSVM) EDGE Purple Gala Awards.

The ceremony was held in observance of International Women’s Day which is celebrated annually on March 8.

Attorney at Law Jihan Williams was the featured presenter.

During her presentation, Williams spoke on the many disadvantages women face despite statistics proving a significant number of women continue to tackle greater roles in our families, communities and local economy.

Funds raised at the event were placed in a donation box for Project Viola which is a programme for teen mothers that is conducted by the Department of Gender Affairs. The Project contributes to women’s development specifically to the vulnerable population of teen mothers and their children in St. Kitts and Nevis.

The Attorney at Law used the opportunity to encourage all to join together to give back to the community even if it means going the extra mile.

At the end of the ceremony awards were presented to Petra Violet Newton, Laverne Brookes, Eloise Williams, Gretel Liburd, Marion Bass, Dr. Marisa Grant-Tate, Faith Caines, Stacy Gumbs, Olette Thomas, Ms. Ruthlin Harris, Marva Hilda Sutton, Darlene Sampson, Judith Hewlett, Pauline Slack, Dawnette Grenyon and Vida Venetta Leader.

Julia Carter was announced the 2019 Ross University Awardee.

At the end of the night a Cheque in the sum of 3 thousand dollars was presented to Project viola

The Purple Glam Gala and Awards Ceremony was held under the theme, “Embracing Balance”.
