SKN Concludes CARIFTA Games with Bronze Medal

ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada – Team Unstoppable  wrapped up its campaign at the 53rd CARIFTA Games on a high note on Monday, April 6, 2026, as Kymarni Newton stormed to bronze in the Under-17 Boys 800m Final at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium. Newton’s outstanding time of 1:55.34 not only earned the Federation’s first (and only) medal of the championships but also shattered the 13-year-old St. Kitts and Nevis U18 national record, marking a historic breakthrough for middle-distance running in the twin islands.

This podium finish on Day 3 capped a week of competitive performances by the 24-athlete delegation. While medals were limited, the squad gained invaluable regional exposure, posted personal bests, and demonstrated the growing depth of athletics development across St. Kitts and Nevis.

  • Under-17 Boys 800m Final: Kymarni Newton claimed bronze with a personal best and national U18 record of 1:55.34. In the same event, Najeeb Kelly finished 5th with a personal best of 1:59.74.
  • Under-17 Boys 1500m Final: Najeeb Kelly placed 4th in 4:13.23; Shandon Burton finished 11th in 4:29.78.
