The lab is known for its technical excellence in indoor air quality (IAQ) testing. Equipped with advanced instrumentation and supported by rigorously trained personnel, the lab performs assessments that help identify contaminants, monitor ventilation effectiveness, and ensure that indoor environments remain safe, healthy, and compliant with international standards.
This high level of trust and technical capability has opened the door for SKNBS air quality personnel to travel to regional territories, providing specialised IAQ services in countries that currently do not have accredited facilities of their own. These regional missions support governments and businesses in maintaining safe indoor environments.
Director of the St. Kitts and Nevis Bureau of Standards, Mr. Stuart LaPlace, emphasised the lab’s leadership in this area:
“Indoor air quality is directly tied to the health and productivity of our people. Our accreditation means that when we walk into a building—whether here in St. Kitts and Nevis or elsewhere in the Caribbean—clients know they are receiving world-class testing and reliable results. We are proud to be the only ISO 17025–accredited air quality lab in the region, and even prouder of the impact our work is having in creating safer indoor spaces for everyone.”
The SKNBS Air Quality Lab will continue to position itself as a critical resource for indoor environmental health across the Caribbean.
