St. Kitts and Nevis Must Adapt Preventative Culture to Increase Disaster Risk Reduction Awareness

Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 3, 2019 (ZIZ News): Adopting a preventative culture that focuses on increasing disaster risk reduction awareness will make citizens and residents better equipped to respond, recover and lessen the damage from hazards that impact the Federation.

That is according to National Disaster Coordinator, Abdias Samuel speaking on the significance of International Day for Disaster Reduction.

He said that this is import considering that St. Kitts and Nevis is susceptible to disasters that are man-made and natural.

He said the goal is to bring global awareness on disaster risk management to St. Kitts and Nevis, adding that anything can happen at any given time.

The 2019 edition of International Day for Disaster Reduction is being observed on Sunday October 13.
