St. Kitts and Nevis ranked second in cell phone use in the Caribbean

Basseterre, St. Kitts (CUOPM) – St. Kitts and Nevis is ranked second in cell phone use among 22 Caribbean nations.

According to Caribbean Journal, St. Kitts and Nevis had 157 subscriptions for every 100 people in the federation.

Number 1 is the Cayman Islands with 172 mobile subscriptions for every 100 persons.

Third was Dominica, 152; fourth, Venezuela, 148; fifth, Antigua and Barbuda, 143; sixth, Trinidad and Tobago, 141; seventh, Aruba, 132; eighth, St. Lucia, 126; 9th, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, 124; 10th, Barbados, 123; 11th, Grenada, 121; 12th, Costa Rica, 112; 13th Suriname, 106; 14th Colombia, 103; 15th Jamaica, 96; 16th Dominican Republic, 87; 17th, Puerto Rico; 18th, Bahamas, 81; 19th, Guyana, 69; 20th, Haiti, 60; 21st, Belize, 53 and Cuba in at 22nd with 15.

The data did not include Anguilla, the Turks and Caicos Islands, Curacao, St. Maarten, the United States Virgin Islands and the French departments.

The information comes from the most recent edition of the World Bank’s World Development Indicators report, which has data on a number of specific business and economic indicators in the region, including the number of mobile cellular subscriptions per 100 people.

The most recent region-wide data, which comes from 2012, was sourced from the International Telecommunication Union’s World Telecommunication/ICT indicators database.
