Stage is set for Soca Monarch Competition

Basseterre, St Kitts – 19th December 2012 – The Sugar Mill will come alive for the second Carnival Competition which turns the Spotlight on Kittitian and Nevisian Soca Artistes.

The Soca Monarch Competition takes place this Friday at the Sugar Mill starting at 8:00 p.m.

Artistes submitted Groovy and Power Soca Tunes to the National Carnival Committee and Finalists were selected by a Panel of Judges.

Among the Finalists is 2011 Power Soca Monarch Take Over, who will be competing in both the Groovy and Power Segments this year with songs called ‘Don’t Need Much to Party’ and ‘Paint de Sky’. Also returning to the arena is Ali Dee, the voice behind the Soca hit ‘With or Without You’ and 2011 First Runner-up in the Groovy Segment, and who will be performing ‘Party’ and ‘We Belong’ this year in both the Groovy and Power Segments.

Persons can also look forward to Mighty Honesty performing ‘Zoo Boat Coming’ in the Power Segment. Last year, Mighty Honesty’s ‘Stupidness’ flooded the airwaves and the streets bringing much excitement and humour to the Carnival Season.

Other competitors are Anastasia, Delly Ranks, Idoni, Kyla, Kibi, Nikhail, Ras Kelly, Fantastic Tunda, Mr. World and Ranking Skeff.

The Show will be hosted by EK the Real Right and admission is $30. Tickets are available at the Carnival Secretariat in the Pelican Mall, Tony’s Liquor Center and Rover’s Bar in Newton Ground.
