Team SKN Claims Four Medals on Day One

St. Kitts & Nevis swimmers dominated the opening day of the 33rd OECS Swimming Championships in St. Vincent & the Grenadines, capturing four medals across multiple age categories.

Eight-year-old Edith Denne delivered a standout performance, dominating her age group to claim gold in the 100m freestyle. Teadrian Tross added another gold medal for Team SKN, storming through the 50m breaststroke in impressive fashion.

Skyla Connor powered through the grueling 400m freestyle to secure bronze, while veteran swimmer Jennifer Harding-Marlin earned bronze in the 100m backstroke in the 18 & over category.

Minister of Sports The Hon. Samal Duggins praised the diverse medal haul.

“An outstanding performance from our athletes who continue to represent the Federation with pride, passion, and determination,” Duggins said.

Before departure, the Minister personally saw off the 12-member team at the airport, emphasizing that “sport is not just about competition, it’s about discipline, unity, and national pride.”

The Federation’s team spans five age categories, from 8-and-under swimmers to the 18 & over division. Athletes are competing in individual events including freestyle, butterfly, breaststroke, and backstroke, as well as relay competitions.

Minister Duggins urged continued national support, encouraging citizens to “rally behind Team St. Kitts & Nevis as they make their splash on the regional stage.”
