Team Unity Cabinet Sworn In

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 14, 2020 (ZIZ News): The Team Unity cabinet has been sworn in for its second term in office.

A swearing in ceremony was held at Warner Park on Sunday.

Hundreds of supporters filled the seats at Warner Park as the swearing in ceremony for the team unity cabinet got underway.

One by one the members of cabinet took their place on stage, greeted by applause from the audience. The final officials to take the stage were Prime Minister Dr. The Hon Timothy Harris and Governor General His Excellency Sir S. W. Tapley Seaton GCMG CVO QC JP LLD.

The swearing in ceremony comes on the heels of Team Unity’s victory of the polls securing 9 of the 11 seats in parliament.

During his presentation Prime Minister Harris thanked the public for returning them to office and promised to honour the faith the public has put in them.

The swearing in ceremony also outlined the specific responsibilities for each minister in the coming five years.

Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris is Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance, National Security, Sustainable Development, Constituency Empowerment, Human Resource Management, and Information.

Honourable Shawn Richards is Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Infrastructure, Utilities, Posts and Urban Development.

Honourable Mark Brantley is Minister of Foreign Affairs and Civil Aviation.

Honourable Alexis Jeffers is Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources.

Honourable Lindsay Grant is Minister of Tourism, Transport, and Ports.

Honourable Eugene Hamilton is Minister of Human Settlements, National Health Insurance, Social Security, Ecclesiastical Affairs, Social Development and Gender Affairs.

Honourable Eric Evelyn is Minister of Environment and Cooperatives.

Honourable Jonel Powell is Minister of Education, Youth, Sport and Culture.

Honourable Akilah Byron-Nisbett is Minister of Health, Entertainment, Entrepreneurship, and Talent Development.

Honourable Wendy Phipps is the Minister of International Trade, Industry and Commerce, Labour and Consumer Affairs.

Honourable Vincent Byron is Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs.

Prime Minister Harris says future plans for the Team Unity cabinet include the expansion of the CCTV programme in St. Kitts and Nevis, “bigger and better” homes, and more opportunities for young people.
