Minister Hamilton recently announced that Venezuelan officials had been on island collecting information on how they could help in various areas.
“Some more technicians are coming in in a few days and our aim is for them to contribute to the housing development and agriculture development. So the next trance of assistance from the Venezuelans will be in that direction,” he said.
Under the PetroCaribe Agreement, the Government of Venezuela donated $16 million to fund the severance payment of former sugar workers, and is taking steps to upgrade housing conditions at an apartment complex in Newtown.
