World’s Largest Cruise Ship Docks in Basseterre

Basseterre, St. Kitts, Jan 30, 2024 (ZIZ Newsroom): Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas, the largest cruise ship in the world, has arrived at Port Zante, Basseterre, St. Kitts, on day four of its tour of the Caribbean.

Icon of the Seas has 20 decks, 40 restaurants, bars, and lounges and accommodates a total of 7,600 passengers who get to enjoy the ship’s seven pools, six water slides, and a 55-foot waterfall.

It has 2,350 crew members, was built in Turku Finland, and cost about 2 billion dollars to build.

It is nearly 365 meters long (that is five times bigger than the Titanic) and weighs about 250,000 tonnes.

Now here are some facts about the ship:

  • Icon of the Seas will have eight neighborhoods
  • The 20-floor ship will boast eight different neighborhoods, including Thrill Island, Chill Island, Central Park, Royal Promenade, and The Hideaway. All are aimed at providing different experiences for guests.
  • The Icon of the Seas ticket reservations opened in October 2022, when the ticket fare started at $1,537 per person. Currently, Royal Caribbean is selling the cheapest ticket to Icon of the Seas at $1,851 for an interior room on a cruise from Miami to the Western Caribbean in September 2024.

Icon of the Seas departs St. Kitts at 6 p.m. and will head towards the United States Virgin Islands.
