BASSETERRE: The ZIZ Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) proudly marks 65 years of dedicated service to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis today, celebrating a legacy of informing, educating, and entertaining the Federation since its establishment as a radio station in 1961.
For more than six decades, ZIZ has played a pivotal role in national development by providing trusted news, cultural programming, and public information to audiences across the Federation and the wider diaspora. From historic national moments to everyday community stories, ZIZ has remained a reliable voice and a vital link connecting citizens at home and abroad.
The milestone anniversary will be commemorated with a series of activities designed to reflect on the organization’s rich history and honour the individuals who have contributed to its success. These activities include a special church service, an awards ceremony recognizing long-serving staff and contributors, and an open day at the ZIZ studios, where members of the public will have the opportunity to tour the facilities and gain insight into the broadcasting process.
Speaking on the occasion, ZBC’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Javon Liburd, noted that the anniversary represents not only a celebration of past achievements but also a renewed commitment to innovation and excellence in broadcasting.
“As we celebrate 65 years of service, we reflect with gratitude on the contributions of the many employees, partners, and supporters who helped shape ZIZ into the institution it is today,” Liburd said. “We remain committed to serving the people of St. Kitts and Nevis with quality programming and reliable information for many years to come.”
The anniversary celebrations will also feature special programming on ZIZ Radio, ZIZ Television, and the corporation’s digital platforms throughout the month.
As ZIZ Broadcasting Corporation celebrates this significant milestone, it continues to look ahead with a vision of strengthening its role as the Federation’s premier public broadcaster.
