ZIZ Song Competition expected to be biggest ever in the federation

Press Conference

(ZIZ Newsroom, Basseterre, St.Kitts, April 7, 2011) – The ZIZ 50th Anniversary Song Competition promises to be one of the biggest shows this federation has ever seen.

The show was launched on Tuesday at a press conference held at Warner Park.

Acting General Manager of ZIZ Vere Galloway vows that the show has the potential to outdo any event ever hosted in St. Kitts-Nevis.

“This event showcasing some of the young talent in St.Kitts and Nevis is destined to be one of the biggest shows ever to be held in the federation. I’m not talking about the 50th anniversary celebrations but I’m talking about other shows as well: Carnival, whatever. This has the potential to be one of the biggest shows in the federation,” he said.

The names of the artistes competing are Ariel Peets, Asim Jenkins, Marshall-C & ITYC, Dejour Alexander, Eric Carter, Ijaz Francis, Minister L.K, Judette Pollock, Hotta Lyrics, Infamus, Michael Chambers, Nicha B, Phillisa Webbe, Rudy “Rudolph” Morton, and Seymona Hutton.

Each participant entered an original song that will be performed at the competition.

The winner of the song competition will receive a $3000 cash prize and a trophy.

Chairman of the song committee, jasmine clarke-thomas said that the participants are also expected to collaborate on a song dedicated to ziz.

She thanked the participants for their enthusiasm and said she expects big things from them.

“I just wanna say thank you to the participants for coming out. I am pleased, totally pleased, because they really show an interest. They want to be a part of ZIZ’s fiftieth anniversary and they are young. It will be like opening a door. I am hoping to see one of them eventually accepting a Grammy,” she said.

The ZIZ 50th Anniversary Song Competition will be held on Saturday May 28th at Carnival Village at 8.p.m.
