BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, November 27, 2020 (MMS-SKN) — Health conscious walk enthusiasts are back on the road tomorrow Saturday November 28 for the latest edition of Prime Minister’s Monthly Health Walk which starts at 5:30 am from the bus stop in Bellevue Village.
Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, who has all along taken seriously the fight against the scourge of NCDs among the public through practical ways, is sending out a special invitation to the regular walk participants and their friends to join him tomorrow for the walk.
The walk which traditionally takes the participants along the Island Main Road from the bus stop in Bellevue through the various picturesque Constituency #7 villages, Tabernacle, Mansion, Christchurch, Bourryeau, Lodge, Lodge Project, and ends at Ottley’s hardcourts has been attracting new participants each month.
Prime Minister Harris, who also has lead responsibility for Human Resource Development, Health and HIV/AIDS issues in the CARICOM’s quasi-cabinet, has noted that the walk is an effective tool in the fight against non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and that he is encouraged by the regular, and high turnout for the monthly health walks that he organises.
The now hugely popular Prime Minister’s Monthly Health Walk that is currently being held under the umbrella of SKN Moves, was initiated in April 2007 by the Area Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher Seven, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris. It was then known as the Dr Harris Constituency Number Seven Health Walk.
“The idea of the health walk came about because most of the constituents wanted to see more of their representative while he at the same time, being a man of the people needed to have a first-hand opportunity to personally know everyone in the constituency,” noted Mr William Phillip, who has been taking part in the health walks all these years.
According to Mr Phillip, health walk has taken a whole new meaning as today it is no longer an event for the people of Constituency Number Seven taking into consideration the fact that the initiator of the health walk is the Prime Minister of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis and is also CARICOM’s lead spokesperson on human resources, health and HIV matters.
“Dr Harris has been taking the matter of healthy lifestyles seriously ever since the idea of the health walk was actualised over thirteen years ago, and today although he is still our Area Parliamentary Representative, he is the Prime Minister of all and he wants his message to go out to all,” noted Mr Phillip. “Put on your sneakers and join us tomorrow for this great walk.”
]]>BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, September 25, 2020 (MMS-SKN) — With only two segments of play left before the second and final round of the 25th edition of Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League concludes, dramatic results were recorded on Thursday September 24 as teams clamoured for the final four positions.
Defending champions Parsons Domino Club, who have a slim chance – if any – for the last four slots, muddied the waters for frontrunners and former champions Unity Domino Club when they beat them 13-11 in a game played at Cuban Bar in Lodge Project.
The loss by Unity was a much welcome gain by Phillips Domino Club whose beating of Molineux Domino Club 13-4 in their encounter at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux solidified their second position on points table. With two games left they have an outside chance of finishing at the top of the points table, since Unity who are at the top now have only one game to play.
Unstoppable Domino Club, who also have a slim chance of reaching the last four, after trailing 5-12 came from behind and upstaged former champions Lodge Domino Club through a narrow 13-12 win in their game played at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project.
The other top contenders for the final four slots, Tabernacle Domino Club, eased their way through by narrowly beating Small Corner Bar Domino Club 14-11 in their game played on the grounds of Tabernacle Police Station. In a second game at the same venue, Sylvers Domino Club squeezed a narrow 13-12 win over Christchurch Domino Club.
Mansion Domino Club effectively took care of Giants Domino Club with a 13-3 beating at the Lodge Community Centre, while Guinness Domino Club collected maximum points after their intended opponents Saddlers Domino Club failed to show up for their encounter at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux.
Points standing at end of the eleventh segment in the second round: *Unity, 105 points; Phillips, 101 points; *Tabernacle, 97 points; Lodge, 92 points; Christchurch, 82 points; Unstoppable, 81 points; Parsons, 80 points; Saddlers, 70 points; Mansion, 70 points; Small Corner Bar, 56 points; Sylvers, 44 points; *Molineux, 36 points; Giants, 33 points; and *Guinness, 27 points.
*Unity, *Tabernacle, *Molineux, and *Guinness have played one game more than the other teams whose games would have been affected by a power outage experienced in most parts of the island on Thursday September 17.

]]>BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, September 23, 2020 (MMS-SKN) — Tenth segment of play in the second round of the 25th edition of Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League held on Tuesday September 22 saw frontrunners rectify mistakes they would have committed in the previous segment, as the defending champions sunk into further problems.
Former champions Unity Domino Club and Phillips Domino Club earned maximum points as Unity beat Tabernacle Domino Club 13-9 at Cuban Bar in Lodge Project, while Phillips beat Guinness Domino Club 14-7 in their encounter at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux.
The atmosphere was totally different at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project where defending champions Parsons Domino Club encountered turbulence after they would have had a comfortable lead of 9-2 over former champions Lodge Domino Club. Former champions Lodge turned the tables and at the end celebrated a 13-12 win over Parsons.
In other games played on Tuesday on the grounds of the Tabernacle Police Station, Unstoppable Domino Club stopped Christchurch Domino Club 13-8, and Small Corner Bar Domino Club beat Saddlers Domino Club 13-12.
At the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux, Giants Domino Club beat Molineux Domino Club 13-11, and at the Lodge Community Centre, Mansion Domino Club beat Sylvers Domino Club 13-8.
Points standing at end of the tenth segment: *Unity, 104 points; Phillips, 95 points; *Tabernacle, 92 points; Lodge, 90 points; Christchurch, 81 points; Unstoppable, 76 points; Parsons, 75 points; Saddlers, 70 points; Mansion, 64 points; Small Corner Bar, 55 points; Sylvers, 39 points; *Molineux, 36 points; Giants, 33 points; and *Guinness, 21 points.
*Unity, *Tabernacle, *Molineux, and *Guinness have played one game more than the other teams whose games would have been affected by the power outage experienced in most parts of the island on Thursday September 17.
Former champions Unity Domino Club, unless they lose at least one of their remaining three games, are at an unassailable position that would see them reclaim the title they lost in 2017. However, in domino like in any other game, they always say it is not over until it is over.
