Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 12th , 2020 (ZIZ News): Under Covid-19 restrictions Independence celebrations continued on Sunday afternoon with the Independence State Service at Warner Park.
Among those in Attendance were Governor General His Excellency Sir. S.W. Tapley Seaton GCMG CVO QC JP, Prime Minister, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris, and other government ministers.
The service was led by various members of the clergy, with the Praise and Worship Session led by members from churches on Nevis.
Prime Minister Harris read the Old Testament Lesson and Leader of the Opposition, the Right Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas read the New Testament Lesson.
Pastor Stanton Adams, Island Coordinator and Senior Pastor of the Seventh-day Adventist Church-St Kitts, delivered the sermon.
A new addition this year was special prayer amidst the Covid-19 pandemic led by Rev Dr Ben Browne, Pastor of the Cayon- Church of God.
The next events for the 37th Anniversary of Independence are the sitting of the St. Kitts Nevis Youth Parliament on Tuesday and the National Heroes Day Observance Ceremony on Wednesday.
