Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 28, 2020 (ZIZ News): Premier of Nevis Hon. Mark Brantley has announced that by-elections will be held within the next 90 days.
Premier Brantley who made the announcement during his most recent press conference on Tuesday, said the elections are set to take place due to the retirement of Hon. Joseph Parry, the representative for St. Thomas’ constituency.
Premier Brantley announced that the new candidate who will contest the election for the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) in the coming months will be Cleone Simmonds.
Mr. Parry tendered his resignation as of December 31st 2019.
Premier Brantley used the opportunity to thank Mr. Parry for his service over the past 3 decades and wished him well in his future endeavours.
It was revealed that with the departure of Mr. Parry from politics, a new era of politics has been ushered in, in Nevis as there is no one left from that generation practicing active politics.
