BASSETERRE — The Old Road Jets and the Cayon Rockets launched their Final Four campaigns with opening-day victories, each securing crucial three points in the SKNFA Premier League’s Final Four.
Azul Cayon Rockets defeated Honda Newtown United 1-0 behind captain Melvin Lewis, who broke the deadlock in the 20th minute with a powerful strike that left the Newtown goalkeeper helpless. Lewis’ goal proved decisive as Cayon held firm throughout the remainder of the match to claim all three points.
In the second match, regular season and FA Cup champions, Montraville Farms CleanRite Old Road United Jets FC, extended their unbeaten record with a 1-0 victory over St. Peters. The match remained scoreless through much of the contest before Tiquanny Williams settled the affair in the 77th minute, squeezing his shot in at the near post. Old Road’s dominant campaign shows no signs of slowing, with two matches remaining in the Final Four stage.
Old Road etched their names into the history books by completing an unbeaten regular season. Old Road becomes just the second team in the Premier League era to finish a campaign without defeat.
