Gingerland Secondary holds Graduation Ceremony

(ZIZ News) — Scores of teenagers graduated from the Gingerland Secondary School on Thursday morning during a ceremony at the Gingerland Methodist Church on Nevis.

The 41st annual ceremony was held under the patronage of Mrs. Jennifer Liburd and featured speeches by Chairperson Pearlivan Wilkin, and Premier and Education Minister the Hon. Vance Amory.

The valedictory speeches were delivered by Cordiesere Walters on behalf of the CSEC students and Randal Williamson behalf of the CCSLC students.

Former student Eric Evelyn delivered the keynote address.

The school’s top scholar Cordiesere Walters walked away with several awards on Thursday.

Among them were the Abonaty Liburd Award for distinction in CSEC Agricultural Science, the Keith Glasgow Award for distinction in Economics and the Lornette Hanley Award for outstanding performance in History.

Walters passed 12 subjects as the CSEC level.

Leandre Dyer, who passed 11 CSEC level subjects, received the Keith Glasgow Award for his performance in Economics, the Juliette Claxton Award for Integrated Science and the Gingerland Methodist Men In Action Award for Best Male CSEC Results.

Other top students were Vanel Bailey and Kelsia Liburd with 10 subject passes and Tarique Browne, Bobby-Jay Bussue, J-Eonne Dore, Neila Jones, Shakeem Parris, and Sadiki Tyson with nine subject passes.

The ceremony was punctuated with songs by the school’s choir and the graduating class and a poem by Aliyah Sampson.
