His Excellency The Governor-General Sir S W Tapley Seaton Receives Farewell From Outgoing Cuban Ambassador

Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 12, 2021 (Government House) —His Excellency the Governor-General Sir S W Tapley Seaton, GCMG, CVO, QC, JP, LLD today 9th December 2021 received a farewell call from His Excellency Hernandez Ferrer the outgoing Cuban Ambassador upon the completion of his tour of duty.

Their Excellencies reviewed the excellent relations between the two countries and highlighted several areas of assistance as follows:-

  • the 34 Medical Member Brigade from Cuba to assist in the COVID-19 Pandemic;  some 30 Medical professionals are present in Saint Kitts and Nevis; the scholarships for 130 students who have qualified in Cuba and are presently serving in Saint Kitts and Nevis in several professional capacities; the contribution of four (4) statues of our National Heroes.

The discussion also highlighted the continuing support by Saint Kitts and Nevis for the UN Resolution in favour of the lifting of the blockade against Cuba.

The Governor-General expressed appreciation on his own behalf and that of the Government and People of Saint Kitts and Nevis for Cuba’s assistance and wished Ambassador Ferrer well in his future endeavours.
