Inspiring Local Youth Ambassadors

(ZIZ News) — Education officials say the visiting Taiwanese Youth Ambassadors will have a positive impact on the young people of the Federation.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Ionie Liburd- Willett said their visit could inspire local youth to become ambassadors for St. Kitts-Nevis.

“They can leave St. Kitts, they can travel the region, they can travel internationally and share our culture, share our history, our dance, our music, our food, and that would be a rich exchange for all of us. So they can develop themselves. They can learn more about themselves and the world. So it’s a really good experience for our youth,” she said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Education, Hon. Shawn Richards expressed gratitude to the visiting Taiwanese Youth Ambassadors for sharing the culture and heritage of their country with St. Kitts and Nevis.

During a welcome dinner at Nirvana on Wednesday, Minister Richards noted the importance of the delegation’s theme, “Youth from Taiwan, Compassion for all”.

“The theme aims to highlight the vitality and kindness of Taiwan youth but also to raise their commitment to issues of global concern such as humanitarian aid and sustainable development,” he said.

The dinner was attended by several government dignitaries including Resident Taiwanese Ambassador, H.E. George, Gow-Wei Chiou; Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris; Hon. Ian Liburd; Hon. Eugene Hamilton; Hon. Wendy Phipps; and Hon. Vincent Byron.
