SKN marks OECS Anniversary

ZIZ News [August 1, 2013] — Today St. Kitts and other members of the OECS are celebrating two years since the coming into effect of the Free Movement of Persons regime.

According to the OECS Commissioner, Her Excellency Ambassador Astona Browne, this regime is fundamental to the strengthening and deepening of the integration process.

She says it facilitates the movement of the citizens of the participating Member States to take advantage of the benefits that are available under the Economic Union.

She says Citizens of the Economic Union enjoy the right to indefinite stay and the right to work in participating Member States. She also spoke of ongoing efforts throughout the Economic Union States to ensure other aspects including transfer of social security benefits.
