Youth Urged to Seize Eco-Tourism Opportunities

(ZIZ News) — Young men and women in St. Kitts and Nevis are being urged to seize the opportunities available in the area of eco-tourism.

That advice came from Founder of Nature’s Kingdom, Claudius “De Nature Man” Collins.

Nature’s Kingdom is a zoo-like entity which features a number of animals and plants, some of which have their origins in Africa.

In an interview with ZIZ News, Collins said there are similar opportunities available for youth in the federation.

“If Nature Man could do it, I can do it too because there’s a lot of things we can put in place to help uplift tourism development and our natural environment at the same time and we don’t have to go to universities or come from space to do these things because the way is there,” he said.

“We don’t need the government in fact, to come and tell us let us do this, let us do that. We need to pull ourselves together, all the youngsters who are up and down the place, Nature Man is asking you please get your acts together and do something consciously; do something to help the country; do something to help the youths and let us see some kind of creative activities,” he said.

Collins said while it may be challenging at times, in the end it will prove to be rewarding.

“We’re going into tourism and we’re still only looking at the sea water and a little part of the rainforest. We need to do more individual local things to see what the individual people are doing towards the uplifting of the eco-tourism business,” he said.

“And I’ve been struggling with my business for the past twenty-something years and I don’t care how much it costs me or how many natural disasters I face I still continue to do it because it is something that we need,” he added.

Nature’s Kingdom, which is currently undergoing expansion work, features a wide array of fish, ducks, geese, goats, turtles and monkeys.
