CIBC FCIB Contributes To Ministry Of Education’s Online Learning Initiative

Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 16th, 2020 (ZIZ News) CIBC First Caribbean International Bank made a donation to the ministry of education’s online learning initiative at a brief ceremony held on Monday.

The cheque for eight thousand one hundred dollars was handed over in the presence of director of the Education Management Information Service Christopher Herbert, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education William Hodge and representatives of CIBC First Caribbean International Bank.

Country Head at CIBC FCIB Andre Cadogan said the donation forms part of the bank’s Covid 19 relief initiative.

“The timing is actually very perfect. We are preparing our students and teachers to transition to an online virtual platform and so Mr. Christopher Herbert, the director of the Education Management Information Service and his team from the education planning division have been very busy trying to program and get a number of tablets ready for students to use in the online learning process.” He said, “So we are very grateful that the bank has come forward and made this very good, very handsome donation to us towards online learning.”

Referring to the donation as timely, Permanent Secretary Hodge thanked the bank for its contribution to the Ministry’s efforts.

“What we have done with our sponsorship and community relations budget is ensure now that we, in addition to the contribution we had made for the testing kits, we have allocated the rest of our sponsorship for the rest of the year toward covid19 associated causes. We are happy that this morning it is very timely for it to get done and we look forward to other opportunities as well.”

He said the money will be used for the intended purpose and noted that it would go a long way in assisting students and teachers in increasing their abilities to learn online.
