Trash Dem Out and Empire win matches

(Sports Page)— The excitement in the Village Premier league-VPL, continued at the Hard Times Playing field on Sunday 9th November.

Two exciting matches were played in front of a sizeable and vocal crowd, as per usual, which included Premier and Mrs. Amory.

In game one the Butlers team batted first and could only manage 74 from their allotted 10 overs and the youthful Rawlins based team known as TRASH DEM OUT, lived up to their name by trashing the ball all around the park, to win the game quite comfortably.

In match number two, the senior Rawlins team, known as BUSHWACKERS, faced off with the highly touted Empire team.

The Empire team batted first and scored a competitive 114 for 6 in their allotted ten overs. Adelvin Phillip and Joel Simmonds, led the way in terms of the scoring and one of the youngsters in the team, certainly turned more than a few heads, when he struck the final delivery, way over long off for a maximum.

When the Bushwackers team batted, there was a glimmer of hope, once Carlon Smithen and Jason Campbell were at the crease, but once those two parted company, the team struggled thereafter.

Final scores: Empire 114 for 6 in 10 overs and Bushwackers 96 for 4 in 10 overs.

Empire won by 18 runs
