Cricket Press Release (January 10, 2014)

St. JOHN’S, Antigua – In preparation for the upcoming NAGICO Super50 and the WICB Regional Four Day Tournament, the Leeward Islands Cricket Association will be hosting a training camp from 16th to 27th January, 2014. The camp, which will be held in St. Kitts, will be under the direction of Mr. Junie Mitcham, the Territorial Development Officer for LICA.

In the absence of the appointed coach Mr. Stuart Williams, who is on overseas duty with the West Indies Senior Team, Mr. Ridley Jacobs, chairman of Selectors will assist with conducting the camp. Mr. Masefield Nisbett of Nevis has been co-opted to perform the duties of physical trainer. The other two Selectors, Mr. Livingstone Harris, and Mr. Lawrence Carty will join the camp in time to witness all of the practice matches and to select both the one day and four day teams.  The players who have been invited to the training camp are:

Justin ATHANAZE, Lionel BAKER, Quinton BOATSWAIN, Nelson BOLAN, Rahkeem CORNWALL, Jahmar HAMILTON, Javal HODGE, Montcin HODGE, Alzarri JOSEPH, Sylvester JOSEPH, Yannick LEONARD, Javier LIBURD, Steve LIBURD, Sheino LIDDIE, Jeremiah LOUIS, Anthony MARTIN, Jaison PETERS, Orlando PETERS, Sherwin PETERS, Adelvin PHILLIP, Kieran POWELL, Mali RICHARDS, Lyndel RICHARDSON, Akeem SAUNDERS, Devon THOMAS, Gavin TONGE, Kelbert WALTERS and Tonito WILLETT.

The team management is comprised of Stuart Williams, coach and Ret. Major Leroy Percival, manager.  The Leeward Islands team has been placed in Group B of the NAGICO Super50 and will depart on 29th January, 2014 for Trinidad.  Leeward Islands’ first match is against Barbados on Sunday, 2nd February, 2014.  Matches will be played at Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad and Shaw Park, Tobago.

Matches in Trinidad will be shown LIVE on ESPN Caribbean, while only highlights will be available for matches played in Tobago.
