JLPS Prevails Over IWPS

Sports Page—Wednesday 10th July 2013 The Jocelyn Liburd Primary School survived a minor scare to eventually take honours in their match up versus the Ivor Walters Primary School on Tuesday.

The IWPS team batted first and scored 62 for 7 and in their line up, featured two females.

The JLPS team was going merrily along on 26 without loss when one of the openers spooned a catch to be caught and bowled by young ‘FARI’, son of SAMBO Bartlette.

However, shortly thereafter, the much talked about MARTHA was introduced into the attack to bowl her off spinners and she soon left main batsman and captain, Jelani Manners flat footed out of his crease as he attempted a huge drive. The wicketkeeper had the bails off in a flash.

Hopes of a dramatic comeback into the game by the IWPS team were soon dashed however, as the new batsman proceeded to lash the next two deliveries over mid-wicket for boundaries and with the pressure eased, JLPS cruised to victory with the final score being 63 for 2.

Matches continue for the remainder of the week with the closing ceremony now rescheduled to Friday 12th July.
