Reggie Douglas beaten in Tourism Race

ZIZ Sports…February 10, 2010 – As part of the Tourism Week of Activities for 2010, a grand cycling event was held on Saturday 6th February 2010. The athletes represented in two categories: Juniors ranging from ages 9-11 and adults ranging from 12 upwards.

The junior category saw the racers cycling for three laps to and from the Samuel Hunkins drive to the Four Seasons Resort, while the seniors were committed to the same route but this time doing six laps.

The top three placers for the juniors were:1st Dominique in 31 mins, 2nd Zavin in 43.49 mins and 3rd Dorez in 1 hr 07 mins.

The main focus of the afternoon however, was on the adults. Fourteen year old Akeem upset the renowned Reggie Douglas by beating him into third place while Alex Isles came second.

The top three places were:1st Akeem in 56 mins, 2nd Alex Isles in a close 56.03 mins and 3rd Reggie Douglas in 56.41 mins.

The next big event will take place on the 27th and 28th of February, featuring cyclists from St.Maarten, Anguilla, Nevis and possibly St.Vincent and the Grenadines.
