TDC Newtown United wins yet another Championship in pouring rain

ZIZ Sports…May 30 2010 – It was showers of blessing at the Warner Park Football Stadium last night when TDC Suzuki Newtown United added to their many championships over the years by winning the 2010 SKNFA Premier Division title in grand style over their opponents St. Peters.

The second game of the best of three was played in heavy downpours throughout the ninety minutes of play but that did not stop both teams from coming out and playing a hard fought game. In the end the St. Peters Football club was defeated by four goals to one.

The first goal of the game came from St. Peters in the first minute of play which caught the defence of Newtown by surprise. However Newtown was able to come back in about the 25th min of play to equalize and went further ahead five minutes later to make it two goals to 1 going into halftime.

In the second half TDC Newton continued to pile on the pressure on St. Peters and got the result they wanted with two more goals making it four goals to one.

At the end of the play and following the short presentation ceremony the celebrations began with fire works display and music provided by the Iron band and Hifi music. Up to late this morning the fans were still in a celebratory mood on George Street in Newtown after a hold on their 13th championship and third Premier Division title.
