Government Leaders Praise Parks and Beaches Unit

BASSETERRE – Top government officials joined celebrations for the Parks and Beaches Unit last week, recognizing the group’s vital role in maintaining the nation’s environmental health and beauty.

Minister of Sustainable Development Dr. Joyelle Clarke attended the unit’s field day, where workers turned routine tasks into competitive, engaging activities. The minister emphasized the importance of supporting staff who contribute to the country’s development.

“The Unit does so much for our country’s beautification, environmental health, community cleanliness and overall ability to sustainably develop, so their empowerment, upliftment and appreciation are necessary,” Clarke stated.

Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew also visited the team during their social gathering, expressing gratitude for their dedication to keeping St. Kitts and Nevis pristine.

The Parks and Beaches Unit is responsible for maintaining public spaces, beaches, and green areas throughout the twin-island nation. Their work supports both environmental sustainability and the tourism sector, which relies heavily on the country’s natural beauty.

The week of activities included team-building exercises and recognition events for staff members who work year-round to ensure the islands remain attractive for residents and visitors alike.

Both government leaders emphasized that appreciation for the unit’s efforts reflects the administration’s commitment to valuing public sector workers who contribute to national development and environmental stewardship.
